“Social Justice is a non-negotiable commitment of our Christian faith”
(from Making Space for Love – Southwark Cathedral’s vision 2024).
Southwark Cathedral is committed to ensuring that our organisation and the supply chains which support it are free from slavery. We acknowledge our responsibility to comply with all principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the “Act”) and our commitment covers the activities of Southwark Cathedral and its trading subsidiary: Southwark Cathedral Enterprises Limited (SCEL).
Our Supply Chain The Act applies not only to Southwark Cathedral employees but also to suppliers, sub-contractors and other business partners.
Southwark Cathedral will not knowingly support or deal with any businesses involved in slavery or human trafficking. We will endeavour in all our dealings to minimise the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain and we encourage staff to report any concerns about modern slavery and child and forced labour.
We are assessing our supply chains and will remain vigilant in working with external partners by seeking confirmations and commitments as to the absence of these practices in their businesses.
We commit to regularly reviewing and improving our procurement process and to develop processes which to ensure that our obligations under the Act are passed through our supply chain.
If any staff member is concerned that modern slavery or human trafficking is taking place in our organisation or our supply chains, we strongly advise that they should raise their concerns to the Chief Operating Officer or immediate line manager.
This statement will be reviewed annually and published on the Southwark Cathedral website.
