Occasionally access to the Cathedral may be restricted due to events taking place.
Southwark Cathedral is a busy working church, regularly hosting services and events. It may be neccessary to close all or part of the Cathedral to visitors to allow for these events to take place.
The Cathedral Shop and Cathedral Cafe will remain open during these times unless stated otherwise.
Tuesday 25 - Saturday 29 August
Please note that essential maintenance works are taking place on the Nave floor. As a result, access to some areas of the Cathedral will be restricted, and entrances and exits to the Nave may differ from the usual routes. Signage and stewards will be on hand to guide you. There may also be some noise associated with the works. Services will take place in the Harvard Chapel.
Saturday 5 - Sunday 6 September
Due to construction taking place opposite the Cathedral, there will be a complete road closure of Montague Close. A pedestrian access route will be available and signposted; however vehicles will not be able to access the main entrance (north side). We recommend allowing extra time when planning your journey. There may be some noise associated with the works, including during services.
