Each year the Chapter donates a percentage of the planned giving that we receive from the Cathedral congregation
These funds are givien to those groups, charities and projects that are recommended to us by the congregation or who approach us directly for help. The Mission Allocation Group seeks a good balance amongst those we support and use the ‘Five Marks of Mission’ as a guide to help with this.
The Five Marks of Mission are:
-
To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
-
To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
-
To respond to human need by loving service
-
To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation
-
To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth
Mission Allocation 2024
Each year we give 10% of planned giving and Sunday collections to charities. The total amount to give away this year is £24,334. 10 shares each amounting to £2,400 are given with a balance of £334.00 in reserve for an emergency.
Decisions were made according to the Five Marks of Mission as agreed by the Chapter and each had to be a registered charity. There was also a strong desire to remain committed to some key charity partners, the Manna Centre and USPG. 17 projects or organisations had been nominated by members of the congregation.
