Experience Southwark Cathedral in a new light at this special late night opening.

Join us for Cathedrals at Night a coordinated nationwide campaign by the Association of English Cathedrals which invites visitors to see our historic sacred spaces in a new light.

Visit the Cathedral on this evening to see how it would have been lit in the past with hundreds of candles flickering in this ancient space.

At 6.30pm our Lay-Clerks will be singing beautiful plainsong and at 7.30pm, Simon Hogan our Sub-Organist and Assistant Director of Music will be performing the atmospheric Piéces de Fantaisie by Louis Vierne on the Cathedral organ.

On the evening, visitors can also walk our Labyrinth. A labyrinth is a winding path used for meditation and prayer. Pilgrims have been walking labyrinths for thousands of years; this symbolic journey represents the path to God, enlightenment or your deepest self. It enables us, in the midst of the busyness of life, to be still and focus our thoughts and feelings.

The Cathedral cafe and shop will also be open on the evening.

This very special evening is free to attend but donations are appreciated.
