Marion’s Way
The local community led by Living Bankside are renaming a street in the area, Marion’s Way after our dear and much loved friend Marion Marples
Marion was central to numerous significant and positive contributions to the local neighbourhood and among her many contributions she helped maintain and improve Gambia Street Garden. A project initiated by Marion to install a set of mosaics in the garden – with several of the designs suggested by her – had been completed at the time of her death. One of the mosaics installed is of a scallop shell, a tribute to Marion Marples and a reference to her long association with pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
The Official Opening of Marion's Way will include the unveiling of permanent installation(s) which mark the change of name and recognise her work in relation to the garden.
Living Bankside invite you to the Official Opening of Marion's Way on Saturday 25 September 2021 from 1:30pm for welcome refreshments and 2:30pm for the ceremony.
Join Marion's family and the Dean of Southwark at Gambia Street Garden - being renamed Marion's Way - opposite 42-44 Dolben St, London SE1 0UQ. If you would like to attend the official opening, please RSVP to: rsvp@livingbankside.org before Friday 24 September 2021.
