Occasionally access to the Cathedral may be restricted due to events taking place.
Southwark Cathedral is a busy working church, regularly hosting services and events. It may be neccessary to close all or part of the Cathedral to visitors to allow for these events to take place.
The Cathedral Shop and Cathedral Cafe will remain open during these times unless stated otherwise.
Thursday 22 January
The Cathedral, Shop and Cafe will close at 3pm to due to preparations for an event taking place that evening.
Said Evening Prayer will take place in the Harvard Chapel at 5.30pm. Please speak to one of our front of house team if you would like to attend the service and they will escort you to the chapel.
Saturday 24 January
The Cathedral will be closed to visitors on this day due to a series of talks taking place in the Nave. Our regular services will continue in the Harvard Chapel. Please speak to one of our front of house team if you would like to attend one of the services and they will escort you to the chapel. The Harvard Chapel will also be set aside as a space for private prayer and reflection.
Sunday 25 January
Entry to the 11am Choral Eucharist will be through the Courtyard only on this day.
Monday 26 January
The Cathedral will be closed to visitors due to filming taking place across the site. Our regular services will continue in the Harvard Chapel and the Tutu Room has been set aside as a space for private prayer and refelection.
Please speak to one of our front of house team if you would like to attend one of the services and they will escort you to the chapel or the Tutu Room.
Friday 30 January
The Cathedral will be closed until 3pm due to a private memorial service and reception taking place.
The Cathedral Shop and Cafe will open at 12.30pm.
