2021/2022 Programme

Pilgrimage to Canterbury

January - September 2022

Due to take place in 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic this pilgrimage to Canterbury will involve one walk a month from January to September 20200 and will finish at Canterbury Cathedral on Saturday 17 September.

The nine walks are;

Saturday 15 January - Southwark Cathedral to Shooters Hill

Saturday 19 February - Shooters Hill to Erith

Saturday 19 March - Erith to Dartford

Saturday 16 April - Dartford to Otford

Saturday 21 May - Otford to Halling

Saturday 18 June - Halling to Bearsted

Saturday 17 July - Bearsted to Charing

Saturday 20 August - Charing to Chilham

Saturday 17 September - Chilham to Canterbury

Hogarth's London - A Talk by Guy Rowston

Saturday 5 February 

10.45am - 1.00pm (In person only)

William Hogarth drew a series of moral and spiritual narratives which are clearly set in London, whether the fashionable west end, the City or the squalid east end. So immerse yourself in the salons and back streets of Georgian London and meet its colourful and venal inhabitants.

Refreshments served from 10.50am and serving a light lunch after the lecture.

Guy Rowston is a qualified Westminster Guide and an adult education lecturer on various aspects of London's life and history.  He is particularly interested in London's architecture.  Guy is also a Southwark Cathedral guide, a member of London Historians and the Victorian Society.  He studied English literature at oxford and has worked in theatre, televison and the arts.
