Laugh out loud underneath a 7m moon!

Join us for a night of planetery-themed stand-up comedy, stories, and silliness from some of London's funniest people. Our MC Dr Steve Cross, creator of Science Showoff has carefully collected an incredible line-up of scientists, comedians and historians to entertain you in the historic surroundings of Southwark Cathedral, all under artist Luke Jerram's stunning Museum of the Moon art installation.

Dr Steve Cross

Steve Cross is the founder of Bright Club and Science Showoff. Cross acts as a master of ceremonies during Science Showoff events. He is a past winner of the Joshua Phillips Award for Innovation in Science Engagement. In 2007, he was the head curator of the Medicine Man gallery at the Wellcome Collection.

Iszi Lawrence

Iszi Lawrence is a presenter, author and history nerd. As seen on Netflix, Sky History, and Yesterday. She's written best selling children's historical fiction including The Time Machine Next Door series where the heroes get to meet Neil Armstrong and you can hear her every Saturday at 10am on Your Place or Mine on BBC Radio 4.

Dr Hannah Little

Dr Hannah Little is a linguist and science communicator, and a lecturer at the University of Liverpool. She is a member of the UK SETI Research Network and is currently writing a book about science fiction and linguistics. She has talked about aliens at the British Science Festival and TEDx, and has been on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Stranger than Sci-Fi’ and ‘Word of Mouth’.

Dr Anna Ploszajski

Dr Anna Ploszajski is an award-winning materials scientist, author, presenter, comedian and storyteller based in London. She’s a materials generalist, equally fascinated by metals, plastics, ceramics, glasses and substances from the natural world. Her work centres around engaging traditionally underserved audiences with materials science and engineering through storytelling. Having developed her own unique blend of autobiographical scientific storytelling in her first book, Handmade: A Scientist’s Search for Meaning Through Making, she now trains professional researchers and teachers to communicate what they do better, through the study of story. In her spare time, Anna plays the trumpet in a funk and soul covers band and is an ultra-endurance open water swimmer. Oh, and it’s pronounced “Por-shy-ski”.

Shalaka Karup

Shalaka Kurup is an award-winning Indian comedian. Her observational humour has been described as being “deadpan joy” (The Morning Star) and acerbic. She recently opened for Eshaan Akbar at Leicester Square Theatre, and has been featured on Channel 4 Digital and BBC One.
