Introducing Vocalise! | In Partnership with The Bach Choir

Join The Bach Choir’s singers to sing with those who are living with dementia.

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with The Bach Choir aimed at those in the local community who are living with dementia. The sessions will be led by one of the Cathedral's Welcome Hosts, Hannah Thomas, accomanied by Cathedral organist James Gough on the piano, alongside 8-10 members of the Bach Choir.

The mental health benefits of singing are well documented and music has also been shown to help those who are living with dementia reconnect with precious memories which they otherwise might struggle to access. In these informal, relaxed sessions, the Choir will be singing a wide range of works from the worlds of pop, rock, musical theatre, and choral music – all the music is designed to resonate with as many people as possible, so they are bound to know some of the songs!

Vocalise! community engagement sessions with the Bach Choir will take place fortnightly on Monday afternoons (9 and 23 June, 7 and 21 July) between 2.15 and 3.45pm and will include 20 minutes at the end of each for guests to enjoy refreshments.
