New Chief Financial Officer Announced

The Chapter of Southwark Cathedral is delighted to announce the appointment of Ted Halshaw as Chief Financial Officer.

undefinedTed is currently the Interim Chief Financial Officer at Southwark Cathedral where he has been leading the finance team for the past three months. Along with the newly appointed Chief Operating Officer, Ted will play a key role in delivering the Chapter’s strategy and plans.

The Very Rev'd Dr Mark Oakley, Dean of Southwark says ‘I am delighted that Ted is to join us full-time as Chief Financial Officer. During his time as interim, Ted has won the trust of colleagues here and in the Diocese, and the skills he brings to us are widely welcomed and celebrated. It will be great to have Ted as part of the senior leadership team as the Cathedral refreshes its vision and strategy for the coming years.’

Speaking about his appointment Ted says 'I am truly honoured that the incredible Southwark Cathedral team are giving me the opportunity to stay and support the team in the long term. I have really enjoyed the head start I have had, meeting the team over the last few months and am now really looking forward to settling in to help achieve the long term goals of the Cathedral.

I come from a long background in Fine and Performing art finance. After cutting my charity finance teeth at the Royal Academy of Arts, I moved on to The National Centre for Circus Arts. There I expanded my people focused finance skills to take on responsibility for HR and Fundraising as well as the Finance department. I was then fortunate to join Rambert, the UK’s oldest touring contemporary ballet company, and spent the next two years helping maintain the full staff team across the pandemic. Most recently I worked at EUSA, a London based offshoot of Boston University, supporting American students in Europe.

At work, I love building great teams, working smarter (not harder), and making sure everyone can do their very best by being well supported and mentored. Outside of work, I am a keen gardener, bread baker, skier, and cat dad. I am also a native south Londoner but have been married to my American wife for 20 years so feel I have a foot in both cultures. I am also learning Japanese on Duolingo and hope to go back again soon.'

Ted will take up his permamnent position in August.
