Learning Centre attends Climate Justice Exhibition

Climate Justice Exhibition at the Houses of Parliament.

On Tuesday 4 March staff and volunteers from the Southwark Cathedral Learning Centre attended the Creative for Climate Justice exhibition at the Houses of Parliament. Also there were some of the children who took part in the Learning Centre's sessions during the Cathedral's Climate Justice Fortnight in October 2024.

The Creative for Climate Justice exhibition is a national project with several charity partners including Christian Aid who the Learning Centre partnered with to facilitate the climate justice focused sessions. At the event at the Houses of Parliament, the students joined others from across the UK in meeting MPs to explain their artworks which were designed as a call to action for national and international leaders.

The Minister for Climate spoke to the young people thanking them for their passion and commitment and urging them to not give hope, to keep the pressure on and to be part of the change that is happening to help curb emissions and reduce climate change.

In October, students wrote their messages of hope for climate justice onto seed paper. The Cathedral's project will culminate in planting these messages as a sustainable wildflower garden at the Cathedral.
