In 2026, the National Year of Reading, we’re focusing on literacy as part of our commitment to social justice. Our ‘Summer of Stories’ is a joyful celebration of storytelling and reading for children and families.


Story trail
Pick up a trail from the Welcome Desk and get exploring. Roll the dice to choose your character and a story object. Find these in the Cathedral and create your own story. Don’t forget to pick up a Hodge sticker from the shop when you have finished exploring.

Reading zone

Unwind with a book in our reading zone open daily throughout the summer holiday.

Join Olivia Armstrong for fabulous tales of enchanting animals, brilliant beasts and beautiful bugs! Join in and become part of the story or simply settle back and listen.
