Southwark Cathedral takes the safeguarding and care of children and vulnerable adults very seriously.
Safeguarding is a fundamental part of our work. As a Christian organisation, following national requirements and guidance, we have a duty to make Southwark Cathedral a safe environment for anyone visiting and participating in Cathedral activities.
We follow Church of England safeguarding guidance including A Safe Church, a manual containing the Diocesan policies, procedures and guidelines for safeguarding children, safeguarding adults who may be vulnerable, and responding to domestic abuse.
If you want to talk to someone regarding safeguarding at the Cathedral, whether you are worried about yourself or another person at risk of harm, or have concerns that an individual working or volunteering at the Cathedral may be causing harm, then please contact a member of our Safeguarding Team.
We work hard to safeguard children and young people, vulnerable adults and those in abusive relationships, and we will respond.
In addition to the support offered by our Cathedral and Diocesan Safeguarding teams, there are a number of support services available.
