Nearer, My God, to Thee: Faith and Fear onboard the Titanic - A Talk by Gareth Russell
During the two hours and forty minutes that it took for the “Titanic” to sink into the freezing North Atlantic, many of the 2,208 people onboard had time to confront their own mortality. Gareth Russell, author of The Ship of Dreams: The sinking of the Titanic and the end of the Edwardian Era explores how a few of them responded to the terror unfolding in front of them.
Gareth Russell is an historian, author and broadcaster. His books include Young and Damned and Fair, The Ship of Dreams, Do Let’s Have Another Drink and The Palace: From the Tudors to the Windsors, 500 Years of Royal History at Hampton Court. This event is in-person only and won't be streamed or recorded and it will take place in the Cathedral library and the doors will open at 7.15pm.
