The Merbecke Choir conducted by Emily Elias will perform Rachmaninoff's majestic work.
The Merbecke Choir conducted by Emily Elias will perform Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil - more usually called the Vespers - in an atmospheric, candle-lit cathedral.
This choral tour de force was hailed as 'the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church'. It is a varied and dramatic work, from the exuberant Resurrection Hymn ‘Today salvation has come’ to the tenderness of the ‘Ave Maria’.
The performance will last around an hour and a quarter.
Join us at 7.45pm for a pre-concert talk by Joseph Fort, Lecturer in Music, College Organist and Director of the Chapel choir at King's College London.
Doors open at 7.30pm.
