An online talk about Edward Alleyn - Elizabethan actor at the Rose Playhouse Bankside and Church Warden at Southwark Cathedral
The Rose Playhouse was the fifth purpose built theatre in London and the first theatre on Bankside in the16th century. The site was developed by Philip Henslowe, and the principal actor at this theatre was Edward Alleyn, Henslowe's son in law, and soon to be founder of Dulwich College.
Linda Shannon a volunterr at the Rose Playhouse, Bankside will take you on a virtual walk, featuring areas in London connected with his life and with Elizabethan theatre in general. She will also talk about The Rose - where two of Shakespeare’s early plays were performed.
