Brighton College presents a programme of choral music, with the combined voices of their Choral Society, Chapel Choir, Chamber Choir and Junior Chamber Choir
Named England’s Independent School of the Year 2019 by The Sunday Times, Brighton College has a rich history of choral music. The choirs perform regularly in around Brighton and are delighted to be performing in Southwark Cathedral for the first time.
The choirs will be joined by soloists Mark Stone (baritone) and Michelle Walton (soprano). Michelle Walton made her critically acclaimed soprano debut as Fiorilla in Rossini’s Il Turco in Italia for the Buxton Festival. As a mezzo-soprano she was a company principal at Scottish Opera and also worked for Glyndebourne, Buxton Festival, Garsington Opera, Opera Holland Park and English Touring Opera. Mark Stone is a keen recitalist and prolific recording artist, alongside his operatic engagements. This season he sings The Magic Flute (Papageno) with the Welsh National Opera and Valencia Palau de les Arts; Götterdämmerung (Gunther) for Grand Théâtre de Genève; Peter Grimes (Captain Balstrode) at Queensland Opera and Das Rheingold (Alberich) at Longborough Festival Opera.
