The Friends of Southwark Cathedral together with the Royal School of Church Music invite you to join a Come and Sing event and perform the choruses of Handel’s masterpiece Messiah Parts One and Two
The earliest mention of any musical activity at Southwark is in 1365 (then the Augustinian Priory of St. Mary Overie) when one Nicholas Le Clerk was appointed to teach boys to sing and read!
Under the directorship of Peter Wright, Director of Music at Southwark Cathedral our gathered choir will rehearse during the afternoon. Following a break for much needed refreshments, participants will perform in front of an audience in the nave of this glorious Cathedral.
You do not have to be part of a choir or sung in public before as all levels of ability are more then welcome to attend - the more the merrier!
The performance will begin at 4.45pm and will last an hour.
