All are welcome to join the Diocese of Southwark's Black History Month Celebration
Black History Month 2023 – Faith. Legacy. Heritage
We are partnering with the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education (SDBE) for this year’s annual Black History Month thanksgiving service at Southwark Cathedral which will take place on Saturday 7 October 2023 at 11am-2pm. The Rt Revd Christopher Chessun, Bishop of Southwark, will be presiding.
This year’s Diocesan theme is the celebration of Windrush 75, embracing the faith and legacy of the Windrush generation and recognising the foundations they have laid to shape the cultural landscape of Britain, embedded in society today.
All are welcome to attend this vibrant celebration with worship, poetry, musical tributes, a steel band and an interactive panel discussion titled Windrush 75: faith, legacy and heritage – taking up the baton, exploring how we, as a multicultural society, implement the lessons learned from the Windrush Generation.
Attendance is free and for all ages.
Please register here.
A schedule and more information about the workshops will be shared following registration.
