Join us for our annual Christmas concert with the Boys and Gentlemen of the Cathedral Choir
Southwark Cathedral invite you join us in the candlelit Cathedral for an evening of traditional Christmas carols performed by the Boys and Gentlemen of the Cathedral choir as well as Benjamin Britten's masterpiece A Ceremony of Carols.
This concert is one of the highlights of the festive season as we look forward to Christmas.
Conductor: Ian Keatley, Director of Music at Southwark Cathedral
Organist: James Gough, Assistant Organist at Southwark Cathedral
Harpist: Jane Lister
This concert will last for 1.5 hours and will include an interval where we hope mulled wine and mince pies will be served by parents of the choristers (Covid dependent).
Britten's A Ceremony of Carols is one of the most popular choral pieces for Christmas time. This collection of 13 Christmas Carols was originally composed for treble voices in three parts. This concert will feature the very popular version in four parts for SATB (an initialism for soprano, alto, tenor and bass)arranged by Britten in 1943.
Doors open at 7.00pm
Use must wear a face covering inside the Cathedral throughout this concert unless exempt.
For your safety and security, bag searches will be in operation, so please bear with us if you have to queue a little longer.
Please avoid bringing large bags into the Cathedral.
