The Rider (Ryder) window is dominated by its roundels which show the Bishop of Winchester surveying the burning ruins following the Great Fire of 1212 and other scenes of medieval life but……

look a little closer and you will see a more recent story.  Etched below and around the roundels are the Victorian workman in their flat caps climbing ladders, working the wood and stone with the architect producing the plans like some medieval mason to restore the building to its former glory and evolving to become a Cathedral after its humble beginnings.  This window can be seen on the south side of the Retrochoir.
