My favourite part of the cathedral is the Shakespeare window
Christopher Webb’s replacement of the Kemp window destroyed in World War Two is full of colour and light. I do not know how Webb’s images compare with Kemp’s, but I say to visitors that although it is impossible to capture Shakespeare in a window, Webb makes a very worthy attempt.
It is very busy but somehow not cluttered and has comedies, histories and tragedies covered, but also the essential themes of humanity, growth, achievement, maturity, decline and death and something of the power and resonance of art itself.
