This beautiful candlelit service combining readings and music marks the beginning of the season of Advent. The beautiful voices of the Cathedral Choir move around the Cathedral as we are taken from darkness to light.

Mercy Ships Carol Service

Join Mercy Ships for their annual Christmas Carol service featuring the Girls and Gentlemen of the Cathedral Choir. Join us as we sing, reflect, celebrate, and share stories of the work of Mercy Ships' life-changing hospital ships.

Crisis Carol Service

The annual Crisis at Christmas Carol Service is an opportunity to stand with those facing homelessness this Christmas.

Sankta Lucia Service

In the darkest time of the year, Lucia brings us a message of light and hope. The annual Swedish Carol Service with singers from the Ulrika Eleonora Church Choir bringing traditional Lucia and Christmas carols into the candlelit Cathedral.

Sunday 18 and Tuesday 20 December

Southwark Cathedral Carol Services 

6pm

Experience the magic of the Cathedral at Christmas with a traditional service of lessons and carols sung by the Cathedral Great Choir.

Tickets for both Sunday and Tuesday are available from the Cathedral's Eventbrite page.

The Sunday Carol Service will also be live streamed.


Wednesday 21 December

Cathedral Sing-In

Led by the Dean, the Cathedral Sing-In is one of the highlights of our Christmas programme. Join us for some lunchtime festivity as the local community comes together to belt out their favourite Christmas carols. The Dean will also treat everyone to some of his favourite cracker jokes. 

Christmas jumpers and festive headwear encouraged!

Christmas Eve 

Crib Service

4pm

Journey to Bethlehem at this popular, family friendly service. Enjoy a retelling of the Christmas story as children help to build the Crib while enjoying traditional Christmas Carols.

Evening Prayer

5.30pm

A short, said service using contemporary language, with psalms and readings. 

The First Eucharist of Christmas

8.30pm

The services sees the season of Advent give way to Christmas as the Eucharist is celebrated in the atmospheric surrounds of the Cathedral.

Christmas Day

Morning Prayer 

8.30am

As there is no Chistmas without Christ join us for Morning Prayer on Christmas Day.

Eucharist

9am

For those who like a quieter celebration of Christmas this service will not disappoint.  Join us as we journey to Bethlehem to greet the Christ-child.

Choral Eucharist

11am

Whilst the turkey is roasting join us for the true highlight of Christmas Day as we celebrate the greatest gift to humankind, Jesus Christ, who we meet in word and music and sacrament.
