J. S. Bach Mass in B minor | Advent Concert by the Merbecke Choir

The Cathedral's Merbecke Choir and Belsize Baroque, with soloists Cecilia Osmond, Carris Jones, Mark Dobell and Jonathan Brown are delighted to present J. S. Bach's Mass in B minor, widely regarded as one of the supreme achievements of classical music. Marvel at what has been described as 'the most outstanding spiritual encounter'.

Carols in the City

Start the Christmas season in style and celebrate the spirit of Christmas in the stunning surrounds of Southwark Cathedral. This special concert features carols by candlelight, performances by the renowned chamber choir, Canticum, and readings by celebrity guests including Alison Steadman OBE, Sir Michael Morpurgo OBE and Rupert Young.

A Ceremony of Carols | Southwark Cathedral Choir Christmas Concert

Join the boys and gentlemen of the Cathedral Choir for a candlelit performance of Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols. The collection of 13 Christmas Carols is one of the season's most popular choral works and was originally composed for treble voices in three parts. This concert features a four part arrangement for soprano, alto, tenor and bass and harp completed by Britten in 1943.

Vivaldi's Four Seasons by Candlelight - London Concertante

If you’re looking for a romantic candlelit experience – or simply want to enjoy some classical music greats in a gorgeous setting – then this is the concert for you. UK based chamber orchestra London Concertante regularly performs up to and over one hundred concerts per year, making it the busiest ensemble of its kind in the country. With their numerous recordings reaching great critical acclaim, the ensemble is continually regarded as one of the finest groups in Europe since its founding in 1991. ​

Led by the Dean, the Cathedral Sing-In is one of the highlights of our Christmas programme. Join us for some lunchtime festivity as the local community comes together to belt out their favourite Christmas carols. The Dean will also treat everyone to some of his favourite cracker jokes.
