Whilst we haven't been able to secure wristbands for the Pride in London parade this year, as a Cathedral, we will be going along to have a visible and supportive presence on the day of the parade
A group from the congregation is planning to attend the parade as spectators, along with our banner. If you wish to join us, we intend to meet in the Cathedral Courtyard at about 11am (in the Link if it's wet) and set off at 11.15am. The Parade runs from 12pm to 5.30pm and then we will be moving as a group to a nearby pub. Some people may also wish to attend the Christians at Pride service at 6pm at St Giles in the Field, (St Giles High Street).
If you would like to attend, it would be helpful to know numbers so please contact Amanda Hill by email. However, please feel free to come along spontaneously and we know that some people will be joining us later in the afternoon. If you need to contact the group on the day, please text/call 07762 016331 to locate us - if you want to let us have your number in advance (we will also set up a WhatsApp group).
In 2018 we produced Southwark Cathedral t-shirts to wear at the event. If you have one of these please wear this on the day so we can be as visible as a group as possible.
If you would like to purchase a T-shirt please let us know so we can provide details of how to order.
Also, on Friday 5 July we will be holding a Pre-Pride reception, for anyone and their friends to celebrate our inclusive community. We will meet in the Cathedral Courtyard, or in the Refectory Cafe dependent on weather at 6.00pm. Please feel free to join us.
