Join us for the annual Blessing of the River Thames
On Sunday 14 January, the clergy and congregations of the Cathedral and St Magnus Church located at the north side of London Bridge, and whose parishes meet on the bridge, process to the centre for a short service. This Thames tradition follows the Orthodox custom of hurling a cross into water as a symbol of Christ's birth and baptism which is celebrated on the Sunday after the Epiphany.
Prayers are said for people who work, live by or use the river before a wooden cross is cast into the Thames.
The service takes place at 12.30pm after Choral Eucharist. Both parishes meet at the middle on the east side of the bridge.
