Southwark Cathedral invites you to join us for this special service commemorating the first anniversary of the London Bridge attack
At this service we will remember those who died or were harmed in the attack at London Bridge one year ago. We shall give thanks for the recovery and healing of minds and bodies; and for the building of relationships and friendships that have emerged over the last twelve months as we pray for peace and protection.
As a symbol of life and healing, four decorated stone corbels that are to be installed on the external fabric of the Cathedral, and were commissioned especially to mark the anniversary of the attack, will be blessed. An Olive Tree of Healing, planted in the Cathedral Churchyard - using compost made from the floral tributes laid around the Borough following the attack last year - will also be blessed during the service. The congregation will be invited to view the corbels and the Olive Tree after the service.
Please note, seats for this service are strictly limited. The Metropolitan Police require that you can only register for one seat per person and information required at registration will include your postal address and date of birth. If you do not provide this information then you will not be able to complete your order and attend the service. There may also be security checks on entering the Cathedral.
Following the service, there will be a procession from the Cathedral to the foot of London Bridge for a public minute’s silence at 4.30pm and flower laying. Anyone attending the service is welcome to take part, and to bring flowers. No tickets are required for this.
Please arrive by 2.30pm to be seated; the service will end at approximately 4.10pm.
