On Sunday 24 June at Choral Evensong, Southwark Cathedral welcomed a new Honorary Canon and two new Honorary Lay Canons.
Revd Chris Moody, Vicar of St Alfege Greenwich, Nicole Burgum, Warden of Readers, and Adrian Greenwood, Chair of the House of Laity, were Instituted and Installed by the Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Revd Christopher Chessun, and the Dean of Southwark, the Very Revd Andrew Nunn.
Speaking at the service, Bishop Christopher commented: “It is a great joy to invest Nicole Burgum, Adrian Greenwood and Chris Moody with my commission as Honorary Canons in recognition of their distinguished service to the Diocese over many years. There is much rejoicing among Readers to have one of their number as Warden. Adrian continues to advance the cause of lay leadership and ministry as well as developing the potential of our Deaneries. Chris Moody has modelled a depth of spiritual leadership which has been a source of inspiration to many. I consulted the Dean about wishing to nominate Nicole when we were all together on the Sea of Galilee during the Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Holy Land at the beginning of Lent and we give thanks to God for many blessings today.”
The Very Revd Andrew Nunn said: ‘It is a joy to add new Honorary Canons to our number who will bring to the College of Canons much needed skills and vast experience of ministry across the diocese.’
