16.30 Prayers for Peace on Remembrance Sunday
This is a joint South London Inter Faith Group/World Congress of Faiths event. Rabbi Jackie Tabick, Chair of WCF, will be present and participating. There will be a candle installation 'in the midst'.

18.30 Cathedral Advent Procession
This annual service begins in darkness with the choir singing in the atmospheric cathedral and concludes in the bright light of hundreds of candles. The theme this year, to be explored in word and music, is John the Baptist, the forerunner of Christ and the greatest of the Advent Figures.

17.30 Choral Evensong Better Bankside St Nicholas Day Service
Singing of Carols around the Christmas Tree in the Churchyard accompanied by the Merbecke Choir and the jazz ensemble The Dixie Ticklers.
This Service is sponsored by Better Bankside and will involve 'the lighting of the tree' and will end with mince pies and mulled wine.

The annual Crisis Carol Service
The Thames Philharmonic Choir will be performing alongside readings and performances by Crisis members and supporters. The service will be followed by mince pies and wine.
Tickets are free however you will need to register for a ticket by visiting their www site www.crisis.org.uk
There will be a collection at the end of the service.

19.00 GLA Carol Service
All are welcome to the Service as Southwark Cathedral is a public place of public worship - this applies to all Churches, Greater Churches and Parish Churches and Services within those buildings - however the reception afterwards is ticketed and the allocation of tickets is through the Deputy Mayor's Office at The Greater London Authority.
All those attending the Reception will be personally invited by the Mayor of London and the Deputy Mayor of London.
Please arrive early for this Service as this will be a popular Carol Service.

12.45 Cathedral Sing-In
In the final run up to Christmas local residents and workers fill the Cathedral to sing a wide selection of carols and hear the traditional readings as well as carols by the Thursday Singers all accompanied by a brass band. This is a relaxed and fun way to really prepare for Christmas.

16.00 Building the Crib Service
A service for children and their families in which the Christmas story is re-told as the children help in preparing the crib with hay and figures of the nativity characters. This is a fun way to worship and really begin Christmas.
23.30 Midnight Mass
This traditional service begins with the blessing of the crib by the Bishop of Southwark. The whole service is conducted in candlelight and will be the last occasion that the Bishop, the Rt Revd Tom Butler, will preside and preach at the Christmas service in the Cathedral as he will retire in March 2010. All are welcome to come and make their Christmas communion and join in the angels' praise of the birth of the Son of God.
