Private Hire

Private Hire of Southwark Cathedral

From conferences and cocktail parties to fashion shows and film premieres, Southwark Cathedral can be transformed to host any event, in a stunning building with history, elegance and beauty.

Within the Cathedral are several areas available for private hire, each offering a unique setting for bespoke events.

Private dining in the Nave

The imposing and regal main hall of the Cathedral the Nave is the perfect backdrop for fine dining dinners and standing receptions of up to 800 people.
The Nave can be dressed for any occasion, with multiple options for tables, seating, lighting and décor, and in the past has played host to Hollywood film premieres and black tie balls.

Southwark Cathedral’s catering supplier Elior can create bespoke menus for fine dining, buffets, bowl food and canapés and can supply a fully licensed, well stocked bar.

The Nave is available to hire for private dining on selected dates throughout the year.

Cocktail parties in the retro choir

Thought by many to be the loveliest part of the cathedral, the Retro Choir is well suited to smaller, more intimate events than the Nave but in equally impressive surroundings.

Lighting, flowers, music and theming can all be arranged to make each event in the Retro Choir unique and make the most of the design features of the building.

The Retro Choir is available for cocktail parties and drinks receptions for up to 200 people on selected dates in November.

Pre and post-concert dinners in the Refectory

The Refectory offers a dining space for casual lunches, coffee and cake and pre-concert suppers, featuring a seasonal and fresh range of home cooked produce with daily changing specials.

Part of the Millennium building opened in 2000 by Nelson Mandela, the Refectory is also available for pre and post-concert dinners for several of the events being held throughout October and November at the Cathedral.
