Adult Learning

For those on the threshold of faith, wanting to explore what is involved in being or becoming a Christian, or for those wanting to prepare for an act of personal commitment, there is an Adult Confirmation Group which meets regularly through the winter months from November until Easter.

For those wanting to freshen and inform their faith, there are regular courses on Prayer, the Bible and Christian living.

Introduction to Prayer Course

We are delighted that the Sisters and Community at the Oratory are allowing us to meet in their lovely refurbished home. Each session starts prompt at 7.00pm and ends at 8.15pm and will be led by Canon Michael Hart.

Tuesday 6th October - Entering the Spirit Zone – where we begin
Tuesday 27th October – Zone Communication – learning a new language
Tuesday 24th November – Deep Prayer Food – that which helps us to grow

Numbers are limited for these three evening sessions, so please book in advance via Michael.hart@southwark.anglican.org

Several of our Action and Interest Groups offer opportunities for further study, learning and reflection and the Diocesan Library, housed at the Cathedral, is an additional resource.

For those wanting to go further, the Diocese offers a range of other learning opportunities including the Prayer and Discipleship course and the more extensive Certificate of Biblical and Theological Study course.

And there are specialist training courses involving a selection process for those who feel called for ministry as Southwark Pastoral Auxiliaries, Readers or as ordained Clergy.

As well as theological education and faith development, the Cathedral offers a wide range of other more practical opportunities to learn skills in singing, bell-ringing, guiding and tourism. Many of our volunteering opportunities offer training.
