Newcomers

Cathedrals have always been places of hospitality and welcome. Southwark Cathedral offers a warm welcome to people who are new to this part of London or new to Christian faith.

Whether you are in London as a student, whether you work here or have made your home here, we hope the Cathedral can be a community where you feel you belong; and as we get to know you, we hope to help you make the next step in your faith journey, however big or small that step may be.

When you are at a service, please ask one of the Cathedral Stewards for a Welcome card. This asks for your name and address and enables us to invite you a Newcomers Evening, when we can tell you more about what the Cathedral might do for you and the facilities and interest groups available.

The work of the Cathedral depends on a huge team of volunteers and there are all kinds of opportunities for newcomers.

There are also groups meeting on a range of issues from prayer and faith development to social action, justice and development.

The Cathedral's Education programme, which includes preparation for Adult Confirmation, offers opportunities for learning about faith and life. The Education and Learning pages have more information.
